Wave Conditioning

Coldness in the body can be the root cause of numerous ailments—stiff shoulders, headaches, lower back pain, fatigue, joint pain, tinnitus, dizziness, constipation, diarrhea, menstrual pain, and more. As we age, “coldness in the bones” tends to deepen, making us more susceptible to these imbalances from within.

Our bodies, once soft and resilient like a baby’s, lose tissue and cellular elasticity with age. Lack of physical activity also causes fascia to tighten and harden. This further accelerates internal coldness and contributes to a variety of physical and emotional discomforts.

In Ayurveda, these issues are seen as resulting from blockages in the flow of life energy (ki in Japanese, chi in Chinese). It teaches that restoring overall balance—including mind and spirit—is essential, using the five senses and mindful breathing techniques (pranayama) to support the smooth circulation of ki

Kisa Hogushi, or what we call Wave Conditioning, is a unique therapeutic method developed in Kyoto, Japan, by a practitioner with over 40 years of experience in Ayurveda. It is rooted in the principles of Marma massage and designed to harmonize the body’s inner flow.

This treatment gently stimulates Marma points—gateways of ki—and works to release blockages along the energy pathways that intersect deep within the body. These blockages are often the hidden cause behind fatigue, loss of appetite, pain, and coldness.

Ayurveda traditionally uses warm oil to help dissolve stagnation. Kisa Hogushi builds on this by integrating a proprietary momi-hogushi (deep yet gentle kneading) method to enhance effectiveness.

Inspired by the founder’s own experience with insomnia and physical/emotional imbalances, this technique was born from a deep question:

“How can we gently free the human heart and lead it toward peace?”

The method continues to be passed down through a dedicated school, with an emphasis on creating a practice that not only heals the client, but also brings calm to the practitioner.

The term “Wave Conditioning” evokes the rhythm of waves lapping gently on the shore. The word “Sha ()” in the name refers to fine grains—soft and smooth, flowing effortlessly. Just as waves cannot dissolve a hardened mound of sand, deeply rooted tension or pain in the body and mind must be gently unraveled, like grains of sand, to transform into ease and tranquility.

A deep inhale mirrors the incoming wave.
A slow exhale follows the wave as it recedes.
In this rhythm of breath, we release physical tension, fascia tightness, and emotional knots.

Rather than forcefully cutting through tangled energy like a thread, Kisa Hogushi gently and patiently unravels it—strand by strand.

We invite you to experience this warm, soothing release that softens both body and spirit—until your eyelids grow heavy in peaceful surrender.
